I have been in clinical social work since 2003, and in social
justice activism since 1988. My professional career spans
across four continents, and a variety of cultural, political and
economic contexts, originating in my native Poland, through
the USA, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, and Canada.
I received my clinical training and Master’s Degree in Social
Work (MSW) at New York University, and at the Toronto
Psychoanalytic Society (TPS) & University of Toronto Faculty
of Medicine. This was followed by work in community mental
health centers for adults, children and adolescents, and a
psychotherapy institute, as well as working for the social
inclusion of people with Developmental Disabilities.
In addition, I enrich my insight, knowledge and skills by
continuing training in such approaches as psychodynamic
psychotherapy, solution-focused therapy, and dialecticalbehavioural therapy.
I work with individuals and couples (straight and LGBTQ) to
better understand their circumstances, strengths, and
resources they already come with, as well as to search for the
meaning and solutions to the challenges people face in
everyday life.
My patients come from a variety of racial, socio-economic,
cultural, geographic, and faith or non-religious backgrounds.

What has she helped her clients achieve? Clients can achieve positive changes re: negative thought patterns and core beliefs, capacity to express and regulate emotions, transformations in behaviour patterns, positive shifts in relationship dynamics, healing and peaceable reconciliation of past memories and experiences (as far back as childhood), positive shifts in self-perception, self-esteem, and how one relates to self and others.

Vivian started to lift weights as a skinny teenager and quickly learned the feel-good value of regular exercise. She played some sports in high school, not at a high skill level, but enjoyed participating in physical activity as a part of a team. At the suggestion of her history teacher, she applied to study physical education and it was the best decision ever! Studying physical education at the University of Toronto fuelled her interest in health and wellness, which became a passion in empowering others.
Vivian started a career in personal training over 20 years ago and returned to teaching group exercise in 2016 with the Toronto Athletic Club and the Adelaide Club. Teaching a variety of classes at the Clubs was awesome, as Vivian so enjoyed sharing fitness, health, and yoga with as many people as possible. A new weekly playlist at her cycle class was always a major highlight!
It took a few years to learn balance in physical exercise and finding yoga practice was a turning point in truly tuning in and learning how much exercise is healthy. Having meditation as a daily habit is key, so is doing what you love! Finding appreciation anywhere you are in life, especially for people around you, helps bring more fulfillment.
